Our Anniversary Weekend Getaway: The Kimpton Shorebreak Resort

Our Anniversary Weekend Getaway: The Kimpton Shorebreak Resort

John and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary this past May. Unfortunately, between both our work schedules mixed in with the kids’ schedules, we really didn’t have the opportunity to even go out for dinner to celebrate.

We finally found one weekend in November and seized the opportunity to travel to Huntington Beach, California. We have been to California many times, however, this time we didn’t want to do any touristy activities - we just wanted to relax. That’s when we chose The Kimpton Shorebreak Resort located in Huntington Beach.

I knew the moment we walked into the lobby we were going to have a wonderful time.

Talk about first impressions. I knew the moment we walked into the lobby we were going to have a wonderful time. The valet attendants were welcoming like old friends, the front desk staff were not only helpful but also just informal enough to continue the relaxing experience. Finally, our room, even with a partial ocean view was so well organized and decorated that I wouldn’t have minded just hanging out there most of our free time.

Walking around the resort, everything was so well thought out. Indoor and outdoor activities, pet friendly, and we loved how close in proximity it was to shopping, dining and of course the beach.

There were definitely a plethora of activities if we wished to dabble. Honestly, John and I just enjoyed sitting outside in the beautiful sunshine and catching up (without the interruption of the kids or dog). Even just simply reading the newspaper together. It was so relaxing.

A common theme throughout our stay was how much the kids would enjoy staying at this resort.

We, on numerous occasions, commented on how much the kids would enjoy staying at this resort. There was something for everyone. We loved that we could just walk out of the hotel, cross the street and be on the beautiful pier.

To John’s delight, there was an amazing gym in the resort. Not gonna lie. For someone like me who is not a fan of fitness, this gym made me want to workout. Everything about the space motivated you to do some sort of activity/routine. They even had a climbing rock wall!

We loved the flavor but most importantly, the burst of energy we had for the remainder of the day.

My absolute favorite part of our stay was their in-resort restaurant, Pacific Hideaway. Nothing like sitting out on their patio sipping a freshly made latte or one of their fresh vegetable concoctions. So good! Their menu was filled with healthy, yet filling and tasty items and we couldn’t get enough.

John’s favorite fresh pressed juice was the Pac Sun 8 which had ginger, carrot, apple and orange. Mine was the Kimpton Kool-Aid 8 that had beets, pineapple, apple and ginger. So good. They both had a kick, but we loved the flavor and most importantly, the burst of energy we had for the remainder of the day.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food at Pacific Hideaway and that says a lot given we are both foodies. We both loved the the Pear Salad 14 that had a myriad of flavors that married together so well, it was a burst of distinct flavors in every bite.

Although I am not much of a breakfast person, (coffee alone will do for me) the breakfast at Pacific Highway was too good to pass up. Gluten free macadamia pancakes or whole wheat waffles with fresh berries were the perfect start to our day. We enjoyed sharing several items off the menu so we could experience all the tastes.

We truly enjoyed our time at The Kimpton Shorebreak Resort and can’t wait to return next time with our family. Kimpton Hotels are known for their service, fine dining and quality customer experience not to mention not having the feeling of staying at a franchise hotel property - it all feels so cozy and familiar.

Comment below if you have ever stayed at a Kimpton Hotel location and what you loved about your stay. Hopefully, it was just as great of an experience as ours was.

Hugs,

Mama K
