The Revival of The Motel: Stonewall Motor Lodge
Having lived in the Dallas Fort Worth area for over 14 years, one may find it interested that I had never visited the Texas Hill Country until recently when I was invited to a Media FAM (media familiarization) trip to Stonewall Motor Lodge’s grand opening and to experience not only the new motel, but the Stonewall/Fredericksburg area around it.
In business since 1964, the owners opened their doors to accommodate the influx of visitors that included, the Secret Service, Associated Press, photographers, celebrities, and politicians due to Lyndon B Johnson’s new role as President of the United States after the tragic passing of President Kennedy.
Tim and Donna, the new hotel managers immediately make you feel like family and are the hardest working couple focused on everyone’s comfort. They really worked hard during our stay to make sure we were all comfortable in our rooms.
You will definitely want to check out the Stonewall Motor Lodge on your next trip to Texas Hill Country - it’s conveniently located off the famous Highway 290 Wine Trail and close to over 50 wineries, breweries, distilleries, restaurants, and other attractions. There is just so much to do there!
